  • What information is included in a Hair Profile?
    We offer three different types of Hair Profiles: Basic Profile: Includes information about your hair's elasticity, porosity, and width, as well as microscopic photos of your hair and a summary of your hair's specific needs. Premium Profile: Includes information about your hair's elasticity, porosity, and width, as well as 20+ pages of detailed advice on how to choose products that will work well for your hair and a recommended routine for your hair type. Complete Profile: Includes all of the information from the Basic and Premium profiles, as well as complete product and routine recommendations for your hair type according to your budget.
  • Which profile would be best for me to choose?
    To determine which profile is best for you, we recommend that you take into account your current level of knowledge regarding hair care, your personal budget considerations, and the level of involvement you prefer in learning about hair and selecting products that are optimal for you. Below is some information about what profile may be best for you. If you have questions or would like more insight into what profile will most benefit you, reach out to us at info@strandprint.com. Basic: Perfect for those on a budget, current hair experts, or those looking to do their own research. Premium: Ideal for those who want to make informed product decisions on their own, with all the information they might need provided in their hair profile. Complete: The ultimate choice for a fully personalized and curated hair care experience, with all the info and products seamlessly laid out for you. Perfect for those who want the ultimate convenience.
  • What hair types can Strandprint test?
    Strandprint can provide Hair Profiles for ALL hair types; kinky, curly, wavy, straight, etc. We can also test bleached, dyed, or heat damaged hair. You do not need to have a specific hair type in order to purchase a Hair Profile.
  • I am struggling with hair loss - should I get an analysis from Strandprint?
    We are sorry to hear that you are dealing with hair loss! Our head scientist at Strandprint is not medically trained, and therefore cannot give any advice regarding hair growth or hair loss. Hair analyses give in-depth information on the physical characteristics of the hair (elasticity, porosity, width) which can help determine what products will likely be best for your hair. Sometimes hair loss can be a result of using the wrong products, but it is most often caused by genetics or underlying medical conditions. If you are struggling with hair loss, we recommend consulting your doctor or dermatologist for solutions.   • What is your refund/return policy?
    Due to the nature of our services, all purchases are final sale and cannot be refunded or returned. However, if you are not happy with your results after 90 days* of receiving your Hair Profile, please reach out to our team at info@strandprint.com so we can help adjust your recommendations.   • Why do I need to fill out a questionnaire?
    If you purchase a Premium or Complete profile, we ask that you complete a questionnaire before we analyze your hair sample. The questionnaire will provide us with preliminary information about your hair, current products, current hair routine, budget and other information regarding your hair. This information is very important when we recommend products, because some products and routines will work best for certain people, and adequate background information is crucial when building these routines. You will receive an email with a link to the questionnaire after you purchase your Hair Profile. Please fill out the questionnaire before sending your hair sample so we have the information necessary before completing your analysis.
  • Can I order a profile for someone else?
    Yes! When purchasing, please specify that the order is a gift. You can then select to have the profile emailed to your email address, or the address of the person receiving the gift. Please note that the sample collection kit will be sent to the address listed when purchased, so be sure to enter in the address you want the sample kit to be sent to. If you do not want to purchase a Hair Profile for someone else, you can also purchase a gift card to our website.
  • How often should I get a hair analysis?
    We recommend getting a hair analysis every 6 months for optimal hair health. Hair can change significantly over that period, so it's important to reassess your hair's condition and adjust your routine accordingly. Additionally, we suggest getting a follow-up analysis 6 months after your first analysis to assess whether the products have been working and to determine whether any adjustments need to be made to your routine. As your hair becomes healthier, it may not need as intense of products or treatments. It's also important to get an analysis every time you do something drastic to your hair, such as bleaching or dyeing it, using excessive heat, or exposing it to UV rays. These types of situations can significantly alter the condition of your hair, and it's important to reassess your hair's needs to maintain optimal hair health.
  • How and when do you dispose of hair samples?
    After we preform your microscopic hair analysis, your hair sample is held for a period of three months in case there is a need for re-analysis. After this time period, the sample is disposed of in a manner that ensures that there is no identifying information attached to it. It is important to note that Strandprint does offer an option for individuals who wish to have their hair sample destroyed immediately after the analysis, without holding it for the three-month period. This can be indicated in the questionnaire provided to the individual before the analysis is performed, or you can email us at info@strandprint.com and let us know that you would like your sample to be destroyed immediately after the analysis. If you choose this option and there is a need for us to re-analyze your hair, you will need to collect another hair sample and will be responsible for covering the cost of sending the sample back to us. Please note that it is uncommon for us to need to preform another hair analysis.
  • How long do I have to send in my sample?
    You are able to send in your hair sample at any time within one year of the date of purchase. If you do not send your sample within one year, you will not be eligible for an analysis or a refund. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact info@strandprint.com.
  • How long will it take until I receive my Hair Profile?
    Your Hair Profile will be sent to you within 3-4 weeks of the day your return sample is postmarked. If you have not received your Hair Profile within 3-4 weeks of the return sample postmark date, please reach out to us at info@strandprint.com.
  • Where will I receive my Profile?
    Your Hair Profile will be a PDF sent to you via email. The email entered into your questionnaire will be the email your profile is sent to, so please ensure all information is correct before submitting the questionnaire.
  • What is a Profile Upgrade? What information do you need for a Profile Upgrade?
    If you purchase a Basic or Premium Hair Profile and decide you would like to learn more information about your hair or have products chosen for you, you can upgrade your analysis to a higher tier. To do so, visit the "Shop" section of our website, add the profile you would like to purchase to your cart, and use the promo code UPGRADE15 at checkout. You will receive 15% off the price of your upgraded profile. Please include your name, order number and email used in your original analysis in the "Add a note" section of the checkout page. When you upgrade, you will not need to send in a new hair sample; all of the information in the upgraded profile will be based off of the sample you originally submitted. The option to upgrade your profile will expire after 6 months, because after 6 months, your hair will have changed enough that your original analysis will no longer be the most accurate representation of your hair's current state. If you are upgrading your analysis from a Basic profile to either a Premium or Complete profile, you will be sent a questionnaire to fill out.
  • What should I do if the routine or product recommendations aren't working?
    We apologize that the product and routine recommendations in your Hair Profile are not giving you the results you were hoping for. This is an uncommon situation, as our recommendations are tailored to your hair's unique characteristics and are made based on current science and research from professionals in the industry. However, we understand that everyone's hair is unique, and sometimes it may take time to find the right products and routine for your specific hair type. We recommend sticking to the recommended routine for at least 90 days before reassessing. This is because hair can change significantly over that period, and it may take some time to see the full benefits of the recommended products and routine. If you purchased a Complete profile, please contact us at info@strandprint.com after the 90-day period and we will work with you to reassess your hair's needs and adjust the recommendations accordingly. Our goal is to help you achieve optimal hair health and satisfaction with your hair, and we are committed to working with you to achieve that goal. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to find the best solution for your hair.
  • Does your hair analysis test DNA?
    Strandprint is a service that analyzes the physical characteristics of an individual's hair, such as its porosity, elasticity, and width. This information is used to provide personalized recommendations for hair care products and routines that can help improve the health and appearance of the hair. It is important to note that Strandprint does not test an individual's DNA. Instead, it focuses on the unique characteristics of their hair to provide the best recommendations for hair health and appearance. There is no DNA testing involved in any of Strandprint's analyses.
  • I live outside the US, can I purchase an analysis?
    If you do not live in the United States, please email us at info@strandprint.com with the subject line "International Order" and information about where you live and what analysis (Basic, Premium or Complete) you are interested in purchasing. Because international shipping can be expensive based on the region you reside in, we do not send a sample collection kit to international customers, but instead have customers collect and send their own samples directly to us. We will send you a coupon code that will give you a discount on the analysis to cover the shipping fees associated with sending your sample, as well as instructions on how to collect and mail your sample.
  • Why do I get a discount code if I purchase an International order?
    Customers interested in purchasing an order outside of the US will receive a discount on their analysis because the cost of the sample kit has been removed. Because international customers are responsible for sending their own samples, and therefore must cover the cost of envelopes, baggies, and postage themselves, the international orders are less expensive than the regular orders to account for these costs. All of the information within the analyses will be the same as those purchased within the US.
